Last week, we discussed how I would use the confidence interval to evaluate one of the variables tracked at my care facility. Therein, I described how we collect data on medication errors and determine the effectiveness of interventions we use to help curb the problem. Medication errors can cause adverse effects on patients, including mortality. It also increases the risk of malpractice lawsuits against a hospital and the care practitioners responsible. I would like to conduct a hypothesis testing study to explore whether or not the electronic prescribing systems effectively reduce the incidence of medication errors.
