Why is our Constitution vague? What are the pros and cons of having a constitution that is written vaguely? Pick a “vague’ portion of the US Constitution. Has this vagueness in terminology been problematic or helpful? Provide historical examples. Use evidence (cite sources) to support your response from assigned readings or online lessons, and at least one outside scholarly source.

Constitutions, according to Whitman Cobb (2020), are fundamental documents that outline the government as well as power structures of a state. In relation to other countries, the US can be regarded as “the father of democracy” owing to its democratic processes, guided by the constitution, spanning a period of more than two centuries. However, constitutions contain unclear or vague clauses that can be interpreted differently. A statute is considered vague when an ordinary citizen must necessarily guess its meaning (Lynch, 2019).
